Lighting Designer
Concept
DanceWorks was a showcase of dance pieces choreographed by UMD students and faculty. As a lighting design student, I was able to design two of the pieces using the plot the students in the Lighting 1 class created alongside whatever special fixtures I wanted.

forget-me-not
Choreographer: Madison Wagner
This duet was about the relationship between two estranged sisters coming back together due to the illness of one of them; then ending in her death and regret of the other sister. The illness was demonstrated through the use of flower petals which was the jumping off point for my design. After a conversation with Wagner, we chose to light the dancers in various shades of pink with shadowy angles and petal gobos to get enhance the flower motif and the delicate nature of the sisters' relationship.
Gimme Shelter
Choreographed and Performed: Elizabeth Schultz
This piece was performed to the song "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones. It was dedicated to and inspired by Charlie Watts who had just passed away earlier that year.
With this in mind, I designed the lighting to be as similar as it would be during a rock concert; specifically with quick cues to highlight the drum hits of the song.
